The 1 Die 2 Blow Header for highest productivity in cold and warm forming.
Carlo Salvi 1 Die 2 Blow Header

The 1 Die 2 Blow Headers is a header designed to manufacture screw blanks as well as solid and semi tubular parts. Changeover times are minimized thanks to the quick change system and to the motorized adjustment which allow to repeat the job in the future.

Technology and speed enable to run profitably not only large Volumes, but also small batches. Wire is fed by grippers. Completed with an induction heating system, the header can process also materials like titanium and super alloys.

Your advantages
  • Minimized changeover times
  • Very high precision of cutoff blank (+/– 0.05 mm)
  • Higher cutoff quality
  • Profitably also for small batches
  • Pre-heating induction system available

1. Carlo Salvi Toggle Action
The toggle action, applied to ram movement, offers a lot of advantages, such as:
  • Better molecular structure: the relative heading speed is slow and therefore, contact between heading tool and material to be processed is very smooth. Upset process of fibers is optimized. Specific metallurgical tests have proven the better quality of components cold headed with the Carlo Salvi toggle action.
  • Tool impacts wire to be upset with a very slow speed: tool life is improved to a great extent and therefore manufacturing costs with Carlo Salvi equipment are much more affordable as opposed to those on conventional machines.
  • Less wear on crankshaft: heading pressure is completely supported by the toggle and not by the crankshaft.

2. Quick change system

The operator may easily and quickly replace:
  • Die block unit
  • Punch block unit
  • Transfer finger units
  • Cutter unit

  • While machine is producing, the operator can easily and comfortably set up the next job due to the centering jigs supplied for this purpose.
  • When the new job has to be set-up on machine simply remove the existing tooling and replace it with the tooling already prepared. Avoid waste of time and do not keep machine idle.
  • Tool set-up outside of machine dramatically reduces changeover times and consequently manufacturing costs and waste of time.
3. Quick Set up with electronic setting
Just touch an icon to recall jobs which have been run in the past. No need to move around the machine, no wrenches needed. Be ready to start a new job in a matter of minutes.
  • The position of all mechanisms is electronically controlled and displayed on the touch screen: type in the job number which has been stored previously and all mechanisms will disengage and engage automatically the machine for the new job.
  • The machine adjustment speed performed with inverter controI electric motor enables the operator to approach punches to die area very slowly so that finger timing is made easier and prevents possible breakages.
  • Hydraulic release of the backing screws
  • Positioning K.O. pins inside dies
  • Adjust the correct wire feed length
  • Adjust wire stop position
4. Linear Wire Feed
Set-up of wire feed length is completely automatic. No wrenches are needed.
  • Linear wire feed does not require wire feed rolls and/or wire stops. Changeovers are faster and costs are minimized.
  • Wire feed is more accurate. Wire is not subject to any stresses due to wire stops as it happens on conventional headers.
  • Wire pulling grippers cover a wide range of wire diameters. High accuracy and a perfect cut-off
quality is obtained with an absolute consistency, within 0.05 mm.
5. Integrated induction system
Enables to process materials such as titanium or high alloy steels.
  • Installed inside the die block, very near to the cutting station
  • Heat wire up to 1,000 °C with pyrometer monitoring assuring process stability
  • Scope consists of high frequency signal generator, induction coil, chiller unit, optical pyrometer and cooling unit
